A Friday night chess tournament for grades K-12. Players are grouped by age and skill into groups of four and play at least 3 games each, and first-timers play other first-timers their age. Top score in each group earns a trophy. Players must know how to checkmate.

Check in by 5:45 PM; first round starts at 6:00. Beginners usually finish in about an hour. Parents can stay in the waiting area or drop off (tell the staff before leaving); new players' parents are encouraged to stay the first time. Space is limited, so register ahead at events.chess4life.com.
